NZ WORLD CUP SQUAD UPDATE
Page updated 06/01/2010 9:58 AM

With six months of the year already over preparations for the 2011 World Cup are about to begin for the eight women and six men in the NZ World Cup Squad.  The men traveled to Australia in early April to take part in the Barastoc Tournament.  This was one of the first chances the men’s side had to play together and see what combinations worked best.  The ladies get their chance in August when seven out of the eight ladies will be traveling to Australia as a Development Team on the 19th August 2010 to play in the Rose Bowl Competition and compete for the ‘Cooper Memorial Trophy’.

BRIEF HISTORY

ShieldThe ‘Cooper Memorial Trophy’ was donated by the Patron of the King Country Polocrosse Association Mr Gilbert Cooper on behalf of himself and his wife Mrs Georgina Cooper as a result of an invitation from the King Country Polocrosse Association to the Queensland Polocrosse Association in 1989.  The timber used for the trophy is Totara Burr.  Since this date the trophy has been contested between NZ and Queensland at Intermediate and Open level.
