Taupo PX Kids on TV
Page updated 05/15/2008 2:52 PM

Hi there,

We were fortunate to have TVNZ here in Turangi last week filming young up and coming Maori kids in the Taupo region.

Interestingly every person they asked said to film the Polocrosse kids. Found out details on Wednesday and pulled 7 kids out of school on Thursday ready to rock and roll at 9am at our grounds.

Dressed in the white and the black Tuwharetoa uniforms bandaged and brushed and tails plaited the cameras were rolling. If I’m on there I hadn’t even brushed my hair. The kids begged and borrowed horses.

They played a couple of chukkas. Taumai had the camera attached to his helmet and Jacob was umpiring. It was pretty good fun too. They interviewed 5 of the 7 kids and filmed them crossing the Tongariro River. All in all about 4 hours worth of filming for about 2 minutes of tv time.

It will screen on 24 May 08 on Channel 2 on a program called ‘I am TV’ between 10 -11 am. If you miss it then you can pick it up from TVNZ on demand. I hope its all positive for Polocrosse and the profiling of Polocrosse. The kids loved it and we had a few of us parents on the sideline cheering them on.

We could not let this opportunity pass by and hope we did a good job.

Our communications have been down for 3 weeks hence the lateness of this information.
