Dear Fellow Polocrosse Enthusiasts,
We have a club in Central Florida (The Goodtimes Polocrosse Club) based at The Villages near Ocala who will be hosting a tournament in February 2008 which will have a Masters Division set for the over 40s. We are keen to get as many players as possible as a pilot to hosting a full international competition there next year.
The Villages is a resort community with polo fields and golf courses close to Disney World and both coasts. In the winter this part of Florida turns into equestrian land especially with the Olympic Games just around the corner and competitors looking for final practice. The Villages has many websites advertising different aspects of the area from tourist activities, maps and weather to real estate and planned communities.
The club has the facility to be flexible and is planning for both a 4 day to a 10 day event for those either wishing to take a vacation break, or just come for the weekend and play. Players will then have the choice to be billeted with host families, or stay at one of the many local hotels.
American players have been asked to provide an extra horse, and should the visitors be in excess of this number then polo horses will be hired locally.
As you can imagine, this is a large undertaking for any organization and we would really appreciate if you would put this information on your notice board for your members. It would help in our planning if we could get some feedback as to whether the project has interest now or next year. With the dollar at such a low value, this may well be the time to enjoy the Florida sun and hospitality.
We look forward to your input to either the APA website (americanpolocrosse.org), myself, or your US contact.
