This tournament was one of last chances for the players named in the World Cup Squad to show the selectors what they had to contribute to the team and why there name needed to be on the final team list.
Four teams made up the DomHealth Division. Three of these teams were comprised of the World Cup Squad players while the fourth was a visiting New South Wales Team. The three New Zealand Teams were named after their respective sponsors; Canterbury NZ, King Country Saddlery and DomHealth. An open tournament was also held at the same time with 1st, 2nd and 3rd Division games being held on the Saturday and Sunday as well.
The men’s team to travel to Australia for the Barastoc tournament was also announced. These players were selected from the World Cup Squad with the final World Cup team to be named after their return. The players selected to compete at Warwick, Queensland from the 9th to the 11th of April were Daryel Mouat, Dean Gower, Shane Neill, Shane Hill, Shaye Williams, Jessee Kereopa and Anaru Kururangi. The above team will be coached by Bruce Hundley and managed by Anne Mickell
Winners of the DomHelath Division were Canterbury NZ with the DomHealth team placing 2nd.
Winners of the 1st Divison were Kaiteke 1, with Putaruru/Tirau 1 coming runners up
