Counties Carnival - December 2009
Page updated 12/14/2009 3:59 PM

The weekend of the 5th and 6th hosted the 2nd carnival of the polocrosse season.  Although the weather during the week tried to discourage the players the call was made to continue and a beautiful weekend was enjoyed by all who attended.

Games began at 11am on Saturday.  With only to two A grade teams entered the teams were split into chukkas allowing them to play a round robin.  Both the B and C grades also played round robins, with each grade containing four teams.  The kids had an amazing day with the sub juniors playing two little games over the weekend and were very excited when they received their presents and rosettes.

Even with the bad weather during the week the grounds withstood the games that took place.  Many comments were made on the high standard of the facilities and the hard work that the members had put in.  As the Juniors and Intermediates are to be held at the grounds in just over a month this was a great response.  It will be great to see many more players enjoying what is on offer.

Sunday gave way to finals for each grade.  The A grade winning chukka was Otorohanga with Te Mata coming runners up.
